Today is Imbolc day. As we say goodbye to the frost and welcome spring, I can’t help but reflect on the Roots of Herbal Heart Apothecary. Strong, deep, connected roots….
H2a is not your average skincare brand. We are in gratitude to the ancient Celts whose traditions we practice through herbal infusions. We are in touch with the earth as we patiently wait for spring where we watch our gardens flourish and produce new buds. We are connected to the herbs and flowers as we grow, harvest & infuse them into H2a Skincare. We are in tune with the people who put H2a on their skin, infusing themselves with, herbs, flowers and in tradition as old as time.
It’s beyond a “natural” product line, H2a Skin Care is your daily connection to the earth and a reminder of her wisdom.

We are bombarded with the words anti-aging and collagen breakdown on a daily basis. Magazines, radio shows, and the beautiful people on T.V. always tell us that we are aging and it needs to be stopped or slowed- that we have done something wrong that is causing us to age faster or sooner. This oftentimes leaves us feeling confused or overwhelmed. What should we do? Am I aging too soon? Is there something wrong with my skin? Without any useful information it is no wonder that we feel this way. Authenticity and honestly is a big piece missing from the cosmetic/skincare industry. So here it is:
We start losing collagen at the age of 20. Skin elasticity is what holds our skin tightly to our face and body, and this elasticity depends on collagen and elastin, two components of the deeper layer of our skin called the dermis (located underneath the epidermis or what you see when looking at someone). Basically the less collagen that we have the more likely we are to get wrinkles and look like we are “aging”. But why does this loss occur? There are many factors such as lifestyle, sun exposure, smoking, etc., but the main reason is that as we age we lose lipid production and with that we lose collagen. Without enough lipids, our cells start to deplete or become “concave” which creates the looks of wrinkles on the skin.
So, now we know that at the age of 20 our lipid production starts to decrease and that causes the appearance of wrinkles on the skin. That rules out starting to take care of your skin when you are 40. If the process of the skin losing its ability to function properly starts at 20, that is when we really need to focus on taking care of ourselves. Most of the time, people start to worry about getting wrinkles when they already have them. Of course there are things you can do to reduce the appearance, but nothing will ever completely make them go away. Now, if you start to apply your skin with the vitamins and collagen building constituents needed to stay healthy at a young age, you will be on a much better path to age gracefully.
How do you start this journey? Although there is no way to actually stop or reverse the process of aging (as many cosmetics promise) we can do it more gracefully. Here at H2a we love the idea of aging gracefully; to us this means enjoying the process of aging but providing our skin with the tools to stay healthy, glowing, and beautiful.
Lucky for you we have done all the research and have formulated a serum to help you begin your journey of aging gracefully.
Our Regeneration 1098 serum has ingredients that are designed to help increase lipid production in the skin in order to support collagen and elastin-leaving you looking youthful and glowing. Our serum contains: Plant derived Squalene which actively rebuilds lipids in the skin which supports healthy collagen levels. Squalene is one of the key components of the sebum and the hydrolipidic film, which is responsible for integrity and healthy appearance of the surface of the skin. Black cumin seed oil acts as a natural peptide, increasing circulation and results in a youthful glow. And of course, Rosehip Seed Oil, packed with vitamins A, K & E, it is an incredible antioxidant. It stimulates the epidermis to eliminate fine lines and tones the skin. Together these ingredients provide your skin with everything needed to stay toned, healthy, and glowing. What could be more graceful than that?

Are you icing your face?
At H2a we wish summer would last forever. The constant sunshine, gardening, and exploring Colorado never gets old to us. However, there is something the Colorado winters do for our skin that summer doesn’t. The cold and icy winds may be chillier than summer heat, but the cold actually helps with wrinkles and breakouts.
Luckily, we don’t have to wait for winter to get the results we want. Cold beauty treatments date back to Ayurvedic beauty rituals and are still used today as they are thought to:
- Reduce puffiness
- Prevent wrinkles
- Treat and prevent acne
- Tighten skin
- Reduce pores
The cold constricts the blood vessels and the body naturally responds by sending warm blood to the area, which gives you that “glow” we all love.
